Congressional APP Challenge 2020
The Congressional APP Challenge is a public effort to encourage kids to learn how to code, through annual district-wide competitions hosted by Members of Congress for their district. You can compete in teams of of to 4 people.

Horatio Alger Scholarship
The Horatio Alger Association's State Scholarship Program in Utah provides financial assistance to students in the state of Utah who have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity and who aspire to pursue higher education.  Scholarship criteria include:
  • Graduation in 2020
  • Commitment to pursuing a bachelor's degree
  • Critical financial need ($55,000 or less adjusted gross income per family is preferred, or explanation must be provided)
  • Involvement in co-curricular and community activities
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity
  • Be a United States citizen

Amount: $7,000 - $25,000

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program rewards excellence by supporting high achieving high school seniors with financial need who seek to attend and graduate from the nation's best four-year colleges and universities. Selected from a nationwide pool of applicants, up to 40 students will become Jack Kent Cooke Scholars and have access to funding for up to four years for undergraduate studies. This highly competitive scholarship includes: up to $40,000 per year to attend a four-year accredited undergraduate school, ability to pursue any area of study, personal advising about selecting a college, and navigating financial aid, multifaceted advising about how to transition to college and maximize the college student experience. Application now available in the Common App. 

At a minimum, applicants must:
  • Plan to graduate from a US high school in spring 2021
  • Intend to enroll in an accredited four-year college beginning in fall 2021
  • Earn a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 or above
  • For the 2020-21 application, test scores are not required.
  • Demonstrate significant unmet financial need

​The Coca-Cola Scholarship
The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation supports more than 1,400 college students each year, with annual scholarships of $3.4 million through two nationally recognized programs on behalf of the Coca-Cola System. Scholarship recipients typically excel academically and in service to others. Most Coca-Cola Scholars share a passion for social justice and many have overcome tremendous challenges to pursue their dreams. The Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship is an achievement based scholarship awarded to graduating high school seniors each year. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, and their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. High school seniors throughout the United States who meet the eligibility requirements may apply for one of our four-year achievement-based scholarships.

Applicants must be:
  • Current high school (or home-schooled) seniors attending school in the United States (or select DoD schools)
  • U.S. Citizens; U.S. Nationals; U.S. Permanent Residents; Refugees; Asylees; Cuban-Haitian Entrants; or Humanitarian Parolees
  • Anticipating completion of high school diploma at the time of application
  • Planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution
  • Carrying a minimum 3.0 GPA at the end of their junior year of high school

Applicants may not:
  • Be children or grandchildren of employees, officers or owners of Coca-Cola bottling companies, The Coca-Cola Company, Company divisions or subsidiaries.

VFW Voice of Democracy
VFW Patriotic Audio Essay Competition. The Voice of Democracy is open to students in grades 9-12, who are enrolled in a public, private or parochial high school or home study program in the United States and its territories. The theme for the 2020-21 year is " Is This the Country the Founders Envisioned?

Students should record their reading of the draft to an audio CD or a flash drive. The recording can be no shorter than 3 minutes and no longer than 5 minutes (plus or minus 5 seconds). Entries begin at the Post level. Once the student creates their essay and completes burning the audio version to a CD, they can submit their typed version, CD and the Voice of Democracy entry form to their local participating VFW. There is a Grand Prize of a $30,000 scholarship.
